Algebra 2
This is a two-semester class taught by Roberto Partida that covers trigonometry and advanced algebra.
First semester, we created a website called "More Than A Number" that was all about how to beat the SAT. I studied the subject of probability in-depth, and created a "cheat sheet" guide to the topic. I also wrote an essay on the origins of the SAT and the truth of what the SAT really is. This essay can be found here. It was translated into Spanish, and the Spanish version is available further down on the page.
Second semester, the 11th grade conducted the Finance Project. We broke up into groups to study housing loans, car loans, student loans, credit cards, and CD accounts. We created signs, info-graphics, and brochures, and then we turned the classroom into a mock bank during exhibition to teach our classmates and families about our topics. I was in the housing loans group, and my role was primarily to figure out the math that went into the brochures. I was not very involved in the aesthetic part of the project, I focused on calculating the different types of loans under different circumstances.
